PPP Senator Bahramand Tangi has retracted a resolution he introduced in the Upper House of parliament, urging for the prohibition of various social media platforms in Pakistan. Initially proposed to ban Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms, Tangi cited concerns about their adverse effects, especially on the youth. Despite highlighting issues like the spread of fake news and content contrary to religious and cultural values, Tangi withdrew the resolution during the Senate session. This move signals a reconsideration of approach, suggesting that alternative solutions may be explored to address the challenges posed by social media.
