Pakistan is pioneering a new era in trade relations with Russia, revolutionizing agricultural exports. Facilitated by the National Logistics Cell (NLC) and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), a convoy of sixteen trucks laden with fresh produce has completed a remarkable journey spanning nearly 6,000 kilometers, reaching the Russian cities of Derbent and Grozny. This initiative signifies a strategic shift in Pakistan’s trade approach, particularly in fruit exports to Russia. Once a lengthy sea voyage, this direct land route via Iran and Azerbaijan now delivers produce in just 18 days, bypassing Afghan transit complexities. Rigorous temperature control ensures the freshness of exports, including kinnow, throughout transit. Recognizing the significance of this collaboration, Russia has lauded Pakistan’s efforts in fostering bilateral trade ties. With this transit service’s launch, the trade landscape between Pakistan and Russia is undergoing a transformative overhaul, presenting lucrative business prospects and the potential to elevate bilateral trade volumes to an estimated $20 billion. NLC, renowned for its expertise in transport and logistics, plays a pivotal role in facilitating Pakistan’s diverse exports, not only to Russia but also to Central Asian states and China. This milestone underscores Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to exploring innovative trade avenues, laying the groundwork for mutually beneficial partnerships and sustainable economic growth.
