In a proactive move to bolster security measures for Chinese personnel engaged in various projects across Punjab, the government has authorized the procurement of 37 bulletproof vehicles. Specifically, 11 of these vehicles are designated for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) endeavors, while 23 are earmarked for Chinese residents working on other projects within the province.
Additionally, three vehicles will be permanently stationed to enhance security arrangements. This decision follows a comprehensive security audit conducted after a tragic attack on Chinese nationals in Shangla district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on March 26, resulting in the loss of five engineers and their Pakistani driver. The Punjab government’s commitment to ensuring a safe environment for Chinese citizens underscores the urgency of these measures amidst ongoing infrastructure development projects.
