The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the notice and schedule for the upcoming presidential election, slated for March 9. Candidates vying for the nation’s highest constitutional office have until March 2, 12pm, to submit their nomination papers to presiding officers in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta. The notification, issued in accordance with constitutional provisions, outlines the timeline for receipt of nomination papers, scrutiny, withdrawal of candidature, and publication of the list of valid candidates. Scrutiny of nomination papers by returning officers will take place on March 4, with candidature withdrawal permitted the following day. The commission will publish the list of valid candidates on March 6, and retirement for candidates is set for the same day. Polling for the presidential election will occur on March 9 at the National Assembly and provincial assemblies from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
