President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of boosting trade and investment ties with the United States while exploring collaborative opportunities across various sectors. This sentiment was expressed during his meeting with US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, at the Presidency. Zardari highlighted the need for American enterprises to invest in the Pakistan Stock Exchange and introduce innovative business concepts to bolster the country’s economy. Stressing the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the US spanning over seven decades, Zardari underscored the necessity of further strengthening this bond. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to addressing economic and security challenges, with a primary focus on revitalizing the economy. Additionally, Zardari addressed the global issue of climate change, expressing Pakistan’s vulnerability and its efforts to modernize the agricultural sector to mitigate its impact. Ambassador Blome echoed Zardari’s sentiments, emphasizing the potential for enhanced collaboration in various areas including trade, investment, climate change, renewable energy, agriculture, and security. He commended Pakistan’s efforts in education, particularly through projects like the Sindh Basic Education Programme, aimed at building climate-resilient schools. The ambassador also met with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss bilateral relations, economic reforms, regional security, and the US-Pakistan Green Alliance framework, reaffirming the commitment to Pakistan’s prosperity and security.
