President Asif Ali Zardari assumed office on Monday and received a guard of honour ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. Arriving in a buggie, Zardari was greeted by a contingent of armed forces who presented the guard of honour. His children, Bilawal Bhutto, Asifa, and Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, also attended the event. Zardari was sworn in as the President of Pakistan the previous day, with Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa administering the oath. Zardari secured victory in the presidential election, receiving 411 votes, and became the 14th president of the country.
