Following the new government’s decision, passport fees have increased by 50 percent, sparking public outcry. The cost for a standard 36-page passport for 5 years has surged from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,500, while the urgency fee has risen from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500. Similarly, the fee for a 10-year validity period has increased to Rs 6,700 from Rs 4,500, with the urgency fee climbing to Rs 11,200 from Rs 7,500. Additionally, fees for 72-page and 100 page passports have also seen significant hikes, causing concern among citizens.
