Amid a consensus among opposition members, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq officially designated Omar Ayub Khan, a senior PTI leader, as the Opposition Leader during a meeting. Ayub’s nomination was put forward and unanimously approved, marking the culmination of the selection process under Rule 39 of the NA’s procedural rules. With no other contenders emerging before the deadline, Ayub’s appointment was affirmed, effective April 2nd, as per the notification issued by the NA Secretariat. Notably, Ayub’s nomination was previously endorsed by the PTI-Sunni Ittehad Council alliance, solidifying his role in the parliamentary landscape. As the leader of the opposition, Ayub assumes a pivotal position, enjoying privileges akin to a federal minister, including a dedicated office space for opposition deliberations.
