Heavy rainfall in Dubai has led to widespread disruptions in flight operations, leaving numerous passengers, including Pakistan cricketers Misbahul Haq and Kamran Akmal, stranded at airports and facing hardships. Misbahul Haq and Kamran Akmal, en route to the US via Dubai, experienced extensive delays, spending hours waiting at the airport amidst disrupted flight schedules. Expressing frustration, Misbahul Haq highlighted the lack of assistance and accommodations for stranded passengers, noting lengthy queues and minimal support from airport staff. Similarly, passengers traveling from Madinah to Dubai via Kuwait after performing Umrah found themselves stranded at the Kuwait airport for two days due to the closure of Dubai airport.
Over 50 Pakistani passengers endured distressing conditions at Kuwait airport, left unattended without proper accommodations, while Indian and Nepali passengers were provided hotel arrangements. Despite appeals for assistance, including reaching out to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, passengers continued to face the ordeal without adequate support.
However, as the thunderstorm alert in the UAE subsided, flight operations from Karachi to Dubai resumed, albeit with delays, marking a partial restoration of services after record-breaking rains caused disruptions. Notably, the stranded PIA plane in Dubai resulted in delayed departures, exemplified by flight PK300 from Karachi to Islamabad departing over four hours behind schedule.
