In response to a detailed summary submitted by the Federal Ministry of Interior, the federal cabinet has greenlit the deployment of military services to uphold a secure electoral environment ahead of the scheduled general elections on February 8.
The approved plan outlines the deployment of a substantial contingent, totaling 277,000 officers and personnel from the Pakistan Army. Complementary to this, Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel will be strategically stationed to bolster security measures during the electoral process. These combined forces, a collaborative effort between the army and civil armed forces, are poised to serve as a rapid response force in areas deemed sensitive.
As the country inches closer to the crucial electoral date, preparations are in their final stages. The Election Commission, in its comprehensive readiness efforts, has taken measures such as freezing the funds of all local government departments to ensure an impartial and transparent electoral process.
In parallel deliberations, the federal cabinet thoroughly reviewed a summary related to the restructuring of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). However, conclusive decisions on FBR restructuring were deferred during the cabinet meeting. Proactively addressing this, the Prime Minister has initiated the formation of a dedicated committee. This committee is entrusted with further deliberations on the proposed reforms within the FBR, aiming to enhance organizational efficiency through strategic considerations.
