Man critically injures girlfriend after she found new boyfriend

Authorities have arrested a Broward man, Damion Matthews, after he critically wounded his girlfriend in a violent attack. Allegedly motivated by jealousy, Matthews assaulted the woman in a parking lot in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, reacting violently to her new relationship. The victim, who shares four children with Matthews, was found with a deep neck wound and rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Eyewitnesses reported Matthews attacking the woman while she was seated in a jeep, prompting bystanders to intervene. After fleeing the scene, Matthews confessed to a friend about the assault, expressing remorse for his actions. This incident is not the first involving Matthews, in 2014, he faced accusations of assaulting the same woman during her pregnancy, highlighting a history of violence and threats.
