The Dera Ismail Khan Police announced on Sunday the successful rescue of kidnapped senior judge Shakirullah Marwat from DI Khan. Marwat, who was abducted two days prior, has reportedly returned home safely, according to police sources. The abduction occurred when armed assailants intercepted Judge Marwat’s vehicle as he was en route to Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Around 15 men on motorbikes ambushed the vehicle, setting it ablaze before fleeing with the judge.
Fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed. Subsequently, a video surfaced featuring Marwat assuring his family of his well-being and urging the Supreme Court, other judges, and the provincial government to fulfill the demands of the TTP for his prompt release. Despite not disclosing the group’s specific demands, Marwat’s plea underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for swift action to ensure his safety. In the video, Marwat is seen seated outdoors on a chequered blanket, addressing the camera directly, with male voices audible in the background, indicating the tense circumstances surrounding his abduction.
