Tragedy strikes Naran as two ice glaciers burst, wreaking havoc on the picturesque tourist spot in Balakot. The calamitous event resulted in the destruction of numerous hotels and homes, inflicting potential financial losses amounting to tens of millions of rupees. In response, the Kaghan Development Authority swiftly convened an emergency meeting to address the crisis, forming a specialized team tasked with assessing the extent of the damage. However, blocked roads due to avalanches have hindered access to Naran, impeding rescue and evaluation efforts by government agencies. Muhammad Shabbir Khan, Director General of the Kaghan Development Authority, led the meeting, emphasizing the urgent need for damage assessment and road clearance. Despite the challenges, efforts are underway to support affected property owners in restoring their establishments. While Naran Bazar remains unscathed, reports indicate significant damage to eight hotels along Lake Road. As assessments continue, collaboration between local authorities and the Kaghan Development Authority aims to facilitate swift recovery in the aftermath of this natural disaster.
