An Islamabad court has sent the case involving illegal arms and liquor against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur back to the trial court, overturning previous orders declaring him a “proclaimed offender.” The decision came after Gandapur’s lawyer argued that his absence from court proceedings was due to official engagements as the new KP CM. The court accepted the lawyer’s request, directing him to submit surety bonds and present a local guarantor on Gandapur’s behalf. The case has been adjourned until March 14, with the trial court instructed to reconsider its previous orders. Gandapur, a former provincial minister, faces charges related to the recovery of illicit arms and alcohol from his car in 2016.
