The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) apprehended an individual suspected of engaging in Hawala-Hundi operations and trafficking smuggled mobile phones within Karachi. The arrested individual, identified as Umair Jaffer, is allegedly part of a network operating alongside accomplices based in Dubai. During the operation conducted at Star City Mobile Mall, FIA confiscated a significant quantity of smuggled mobile phones and accessories, along with foreign currency found in Jaffer’s possession. Additionally, telegraphic transfer records were seized from the accused. A case has been filed against Jaffer in the anti-corruption circle, with ongoing efforts to apprehend other suspects. This follows a previous operation on December 2, where FIA arrested Noor Muhammad, the purported leader of a gang involved in illegal currency exchange and Hawala-Hundi activities, from Karachi’s Garden East Area.
