Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to depart Saudi Arabia for Gambia to participate in the foreign ministers’ meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Banjul on May 2 and 3.
Following suit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will journey to The Gambia on May 3 to attend the OIC Heads of State meeting on May 4 and 5. Both leaders will engage in bilateral discussions with counterparts from key countries on the sidelines of the OIC meeting. Expected to return home on May 6, their visit aims to strengthen ties and address pressing global issues.
The OIC summit in Banjul holds particular significance amidst the ongoing crisis in Gaza, providing an opportunity for leaders to unify their stance on the Palestinian question and discuss other critical global challenges such as rising Islamophobia and terrorism. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will also attend the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting preceding the summit.
