The Lahore High Court (LHC) has turned down a plea requesting the prompt removal of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s image from Ramazan ration bags. During the hearing, Justice Shahid Karim presided over the case, where lawyer Salma Riaz represented the petitioner. The petitioner argued that the use of public funds for personal promotion, such as printing Sharif’s picture on ration bags, was undignified for citizens. They sought to halt the printing and ensure that the distribution of flour respects citizens’ dignity. Additionally, they urged the court to direct the Punjab government to distribute funds from the Benazir Income Support Programme directly to people’s homes. While the court declined the immediate removal of Nawaz Sharif’s photo from the ration bags, it has summoned a response from the Punjab government.
