Maryam Riaz Wattoo, sister of former first lady Bushra Bibi, has raised a clarion call for accountability within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), urging scrutiny of the party’s lawyers’ silence on pivotal legal matters. During an appearance on Samaa TV’s ‘Nadeem Malik Live’, she voiced concerns over PTI-affiliated lawyers’ apparent inaction in crucial cases, notably the ongoing Iddat case.
Wattoo highlighted the lack of active pursuit of PTI’s interests by its lawyers despite repeated court dates, singling out prominent legal figures like Hamid Khan, Latif Khosa, and Ali Zafar. She urged voters to hold these lawyers accountable for their lack of engagement and transparency.
Additionally, Wattoo emphasized the necessity for PTI lawyers to adopt a more assertive stance, especially concerning recent judicial developments, while also expressing confidence in the eventual release of PTI’s founder. She underscored the humane aspect of legal proceedings, reminding viewers that those incarcerated have families and ties to the state, advocating for a compassionate understanding of their plight.
