The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has wrapped up preparations for the forthcoming Senate elections, slated for tomorrow. Voting is scheduled to occur from 9am to 4pm in both the National and provincial assemblies. Ballot papers have been color-coded for various seat categories: white for general seats, green for technocrat seats, pink for women’s seats, and yellow for minority seats. With ballot materials delivered to the returning officer, election procedures are set to proceed smoothly. While some assemblies witnessed uncontested victories, contests are underway in others. Notably, candidates from Balochistan secured all seats unopposed, and several nominees withdrew their candidacies across provinces. The race intensifies in Punjab, where contenders vie for technocrat and women’s seats, with notable figures such as federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and former PML-N members in the fray.
