Rice exports in the country have witnessed a significant surge, marking an 85.83% growth in the first eight months of the current financial year. Data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reveals that between July 2023 and February 2024, the country garnered $2.517 billion in foreign exchange from rice exports, demonstrating an impressive increase compared to the previous fiscal year. This substantial growth is attributed to the export of 3.932 million metric tonnes of rice during this period, representing a notable uptick from the preceding year’s figures. Particularly noteworthy is the rise in foreign exchange earnings from basmati rice exports, which saw a 38.43% increase, contributing significantly to the overall export revenue. Such remarkable progress underscores the country’s robust performance in the rice export sector, signaling promising economic prospects ahead.
