The Punjab cabinet’s recent approval of the air ambulance project marks a significant advancement in emergency medical services within the region. This initiative entails leasing two aircraft initially, equipped to facilitate the transportation of medical personnel, essential equipment, and life-saving medications. Specifically designed to operate from short runways, these air ambulances boast the capability to land and take off from national highways and motorways. This strategic infrastructure ensures swift patient transfer from any location to the nearest medical facility and subsequently to larger government hospitals if necessary. Notably, in emergencies, nearby highways can serve as landing sites for these air ambulances, enhancing accessibility and responsiveness in critical situations.
