The Anti-Extremism Unit of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has taken action against online hate speech, urging relevant authorities to shut down 462 social media accounts inciting religious and linguistic animosity. Following the identification of 1,522 accounts engaged in negative activities, Islamabad Police forwarded a request to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for the closure of these accounts. Among the closed accounts, 65 were found promoting religious intolerance, while 47 propagated anti-national sentiments. Furthermore, 350 blocked accounts were reportedly involved in disseminating terrorist content. Police sources indicate that the remaining 1,060 identified accounts will also face closure in the near future, as part of continued efforts to combat online extremism.
