A former police deputy, Stevon Grindstaff, has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred over three months ago in Arkansas. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office charged Grindstaff with first-degree murder and aggravated assault stemming from the December 3 incident. Grindstaff, who was fired from his position after an investigation into the matter, was apprehended by the Arkansas State Police on March 11. The shooting unfolded when Grindstaff attempted to stop a pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Scottie Stacy. Despite Grindstaff’s efforts, Stacy refused to comply and attempted to flee, leading to a confrontation in which Grindstaff fatally shot Stacy. Following an investigation by the Arkansas State Police, Grindstaff was arrested and subsequently released from the Washington County Detention Center on Tuesday. Washington County is located approximately 185 miles from Little Rock, Arkansas.
