The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is poised to bring former team captain and Test cricketer Azhar Ali into a significant position within the organization, according to sources cited by News. At 39 years old, Azhar is anticipated to assume responsibilities either within the selection committee or at the high-performance center of the cricketing body. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi favors leveraging Azhar’s wealth of experience in cricket for the benefit of the board. Azhar retired from Test cricket in 2022 after a prolific career spanning over a decade, during which he amassed over 7,000 runs in 96 matches with an impressive average of 42.49. Notably, he holds the distinction of being the only Pakistani batter to score a triple-century in a pink-ball Test, achieving the milestone against the West Indies in 2016. Additionally, former team manager Rehan-ul-Haq is expected to return to his role, having previously served under Najam Sethi’s chairmanship. As preparations unfold, Rehan-ul-Haq is anticipated to resume his duties with the Pakistan team in the near future.
