In the heart of Karachi, a unique sight unfolds as women clad in colourful headscarves and abayas practice motorbike maneuvers around safety cones. Led by instructor Zainab Safdar, the “Rowdy Riders” defy cultural norms by teaching women of all backgrounds the art of motorcycling. Founded in 2017 by a small group of trailblazing riders, the Rowdy Riders have since grown to over 1,500 members, including housewives, students, and professionals. This empowering initiative marks a shift in societal perceptions, demonstrating that change is indeed underway for women in Pakistan.
