The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is set to dispatch a mission to Islamabad for the second economic review following the formation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, according to sources. The focus remains on completing the ongoing Stand By Program, with the mission for the review expected to be dispatched immediately after the cabinet formation. IMF Director of Communications Julie Kozek emphasized the priority of completing the existing program while expressing readiness to collaborate with Pakistan’s new government for economic stability. The PML-N-led government’s decision to pursue a fresh IMF loan program has initiated actions by the Ministry of Finance, with Pakistan likely to seek a $6 to 8 billion loan. Stricter conditions from the IMF are anticipated, while the PTI has urged the IMF to consider Pakistan’s political stability in bailout talks.
