Addressing the general council of JUI Punjab, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F), stressed the importance of a unified opposition to combat election irregularities. Calling upon Shehbaz Sharif to collaborate with the opposition, Rehman accused political parties of orchestrating election fraud. He highlighted concerns about corruption and financial coercion against candidates, challenging the integrity of the electoral process. Expressing dismay over the state of democracy, Rehman lamented the parliament’s diminished role and the erosion of democratic credibility. The council unanimously passed a resolution condemning the February 8 elections and institutional interference, affirming JUI Punjab’s commitment to address systemic issues and uphold democratic principles.
