Earlier on Friday, Ashraf submitted his resignation as the PCB management committee chairman, a move accompanied by his decision to also step down as a member of the Board of Governors (BoG). Insider information reveals that Ashraf opted to resign due to the lack of authority granted by the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).
The IPC intervened during the management committee meeting in Karachi on Tuesday, putting a halt to the proceedings and instructing Ashraf not to make decisions independently. Ashraf, however, aimed to align his decisions with the BoG’s direction and adhere to the upcoming elections.
Notably, the IPC’s interference extended to restricting Ashraf from overseeing the T-10 league. In response to these developments, Ashraf formally presented his resignation to the caretaker prime minister. The acceptance of Ashraf’s resignation by the prime minister would trigger the need for elections to establish a new BoG. The evolving situation highlights the complexities within the PCB’s governance and decision-making processes.
