Tragedy struck the tennis world as news emerged of the untimely passing of young Pakistani tennis player, Zainab Ali Naqvi, during her participation in the ITF Junior Tournament held in Islamabad. The sudden demise of the 17-year-old talent from Karachi sent shockwaves through the tennis community, leaving many in mourning.
Zainab, celebrated for her exceptional skills on the court, had journeyed to Islamabad to compete in the ITF Junior Tournament. According to reports from the Tennis Federation, following her match, Zainab went to shower. Concern grew when she failed to return within a reasonable timeframe. Unfortunately, upon entry into her room, she was discovered to have passed away.
Amidst this heartbreaking news, PTF President Asam-ul-Haq Qureshi, former president PTF Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, council members, and numerous members of the tennis fraternity extended their deepest condolences to Zainab’s family.
In remembrance of Zainab’s life and contributions to the sport, a minute of silence was observed at the ITF Junior Tournament, leading to the cancellation of all scheduled matches for the day as a mark of respect.
